VIDEO: Crews extinguished a three-alarm fire Monday at a condo complex in the Fern Creek neighborhood. The fire broke out in the 10000 block of Clyde Moore Boulevard shortly after 10 a.m. Monday. Fern Creek Fire Chief Mike Schmidt said there was no sprinkler system in the building. Forty-five firefighters from six departments showed up and got the fire under control in one hour. Schmidt said the fire spread through the attics of four units. Two of the units had heavy damage and the other two are salvageable, according to authorities. "It spread pretty quickly," neighbor Joshua White said. "I'd say flames were probably about 10 to 15 feet in the air." Officials said the fire started in a garage, but officials are still working to determine what sparked the flames. One resident told authorities he heard the smoke detector go off and was able to get his mom out of the condo safely.
