Firefighters in Lexington say quick-thinking helped them knock down a house fire that could potentially have been much worse.
Firefighters were called to a home on Appian Way near the intersection of Centre Parkway on a report of a fire in the bedroom.
Crews say five people were in the home but had evacuated safely by the time they arrived.
Firefighters say they were able to knock down the flames pretty quickly, and rescued a cat they were able to find inside. The animal was unconscious, but began responding after being administered oxygen, and was able to drink some water before being taken to a veterinarian.
Jeff Johnson, District Major with the Lexington Fire Department says the prompt call to authorities played a big part in successfully knocking back the flames quickly.
