Update: Fluorescent light sparked fire that destroyed Louisville County strip mall

VIDEO: Officials have released the cause of a fire that destroyed several businesses in a strip mall in the St. Matthews area last month. According to Louisville fire officials, it was sparked by an electrical issue at Simply Mac. Something went wrong with a light ballast in a fluorescent light, they said. Bobby Cooper, with Louisville fire, said they traced the source by investigating burn patterns and talking to witnesses. 13 fire trucks and nearly 60 firefighters responded to the 2-alarm fire. Firetrucks were called in from as far away as West Louisville. No major injuries were reported, but officials said one firefighter became overheated and needed medical treatment at the scene.
