Georgetown mayor announces fire chiefs retirement

Georgetown will have a new fire chief soon. The mayor announced the retirement of Chief John Ward. Mayor, Tom Prather said in a letter, “In his 25 years of service with the Georgetown Fire Department, Chief Ward saw the department grow from 22 employees to 58 and become on of the premier fire departments in the Commonwealth. We wish him well and will miss his cool head and warm smile.” Ward became the fire chief in 2014.
