Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that killed an elderly woman in a Jackson County home Saturday morning.
Firefighters say they were called to Morris Lane, off U.S. 421 in Sand Gap, just before 5 a.m. Kentucky State Police say firefighters later found the victim dead inside the home.
The woman's name has not been released. Police say her body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
Police say there does not appear to be anything suspicious about the fire.
Firefighters say because there wasn't a nearby hydrant, five fire departments had to be called in to shuttle water, so the fire could be extinguished.
The Sand Gap, McKee, and Gray Hawk fire departments from Jackson County, along with the Pond Creek and Climax fire departments from Rockcastle County were called to the fire.
