VIDEO: A family is now looking to rebuild after losing everything in a devastating in Buechel. A day later, the smell of burning wood is still strong on Applegrove Lane. What's left of a family's home sits behind yellow tape, their charred belongings on the grass. Although it took firefighters just minutes to put out the flames, for John Peter, the events of Friday evening remain a blur. Peter says his mother and seven other siblings were inside the house, but no one noticed the smoke. It was a family friend who was stopping by that saw it and told everyone to leave. Peter says they were able to get out, but the fast-spreading flames only allowed them to save just a handful of clothes. "We cannot worry about stuff because if we work and we can get the money, it can be replaced," Peter said.
