At Monday night’s Leitchfield City Council meeting, council members agreed to allow the Leitchfield Fire Department to apply for a grant for a new ladder truck.
At the request of Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall, the council unanimously approved allowing the chief to apply for a Homeland Security grant in the amount of $850,000 to replace the department’s aging ladder truck (the truck recently failed an inspection). The city is liable for five-percent ($42,500) of the grant, an amount that will be taken from LFD’s voluntary fire and rescue dues, received from county residents in LFD’s fire district.
LFD will also pay the grant writer, Beth Bishop, $1,500 for drafting the grant application.
In other LFD news, the council approved the department’s new standard operating procedures manual.
