Wheatcroft Fire Department crews were busy fighting a blaze that claimed a home at the intersection of Hammock and Lexington streets.
Clay Fire Department also assisted to extinguish the blaze at 116 Lexington St. in Wheatcroft that was fully involved in flames as they arrived shortly before 3 p.m.
Embers sparked fires in neighboring yards that were quickly extinguished, Wheatcroft Fire Chief Kerry W. DeHaven said.
DeHaven mentioned the home, owned by Eugene Hook of Grand Rivers, was unoccupied during the incident.
“It was a total loss,” DeHaven said. “There were no injuries during the fire.”
