For fans of the BJ Thomas song “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head,” the weekend was surely memorable, but first responders around Grayson County had a busy Sunday, with water rescues and road closures prominently featured as the area received a steady, heavy rainfall Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
The Leitchfield Fire Department performed two risky water rescues, the first a vehicle extraction on Commerce Drive followed by the rescue of a family on Sadler Road whose home began flooding.
In total, LFD rescued three people and two dogs. There were multiple road closures throughout Grayson County Sunday morning, including Hwy 1655, between Bowling Green Road and Ready Windyville Road, just outside of Caneyville. Bowling Green Road was closed in Caneyville Sunday morning due to high water.
