PHOTOS: Two firefighters are recovering after being hurt while battling a fire in Rockcastle County.
The Brindle Ridge Volunteer Fire Department says it got a call around 7:48 P.M. Sunday from a passerby on the interstate, who told them they saw heavy smoke coming from a home on Otter Lane. They say another call came in confirming the fire and reporting three children might be trapped inside. Firefighters say when they arrived, no one was inside the home.
Crews used nearly 15,400 gallons of water to put out the fire.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for an ankle injury. Another suffered a minor injury.
About 50 firefighters worked together to put out the fire.
Mt. Vernon Fire Department, Brodhead Fire Department, Berea Fire Department, Berea Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Livingston Fire Department, Rockcastle EMS, Rockcastle Sheriff’s Office, and KSP Fire Investigator were also on scene.
