A monumental day for the St. George Fire District as they’ll officially break ground on what they’re calling the single largest construction project in the districts history. The nearly $13 million project includes the construction of a fire station next to the existing headquarters that sits on approximately 10 acres along Airline Highway. Once completed, the new campus will also include a training and communications center, special services and maintenance facility. The fire station will be a replacement for the current Station 67, located on Castille Road that is the only leased facility from which St. George firefighters respond. The groundbreaking ceremony will get underway at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public. Construction is set to be completed on the project in 16 months.
