A family of three escaped their burning home unharmed Tuesday in the Greenway Park subdivision. The Shreveport Fire Department received the call of a one-story house on fire in the 3700 block of Greenway Place at 4:14 p.m. The homeowner reported smelling smoke coming from the rear of the home. Firefighters from Station 10 arrived on scene within 4 minutes and reported smoke coming from the attic. As fire crews made entry into the front of the home it was determined that the fire was contained to the home's attic. SFD fire crews had to cut a hole in the roof to aid in the extinguishment of the fire. It took eight fire units, 25 firefighters, 22 minutes to bring the situation under control. Battalion Chief Kenny Frazier placed the fire under control at 4:40 p.m. The home sustained heavy damage to the roof and smoke damage to the interior.
