As we enter the holiday season, it is often a reminder that there are plenty of charitable causes throughout the Capital Area.
The call to find a home for the “Spirit of Louisiana” fire truck however, has been a long one. The initial goal to build the truck through a grassroots campaign was met with open-arms. People across Louisiana and beyond donated more than quadruple the ask, to the tune of $1.1 million.
The GoFundMe effort, at the time this article was published, sits at a lackluster $1,600, with a goal of $400,000. State Fire Marshall H. “Butch” Browning told WWL radio in September that he believed the goal could be met before the end of 2019.
Browning said the GoFundMe is not indicative of the actual monies raised because his office has received checks and other donations direct from the community.
