A Jefferson Parish firefighter with years of experience showed up to a house fire to see his son in action, but it turned out that day he would help save a woman. The fire broke out at a Metairie home on Good Friday. Denis "Tye" Mire Jr. has been a firefighter for 31 years. Now, his son is following in his footsteps. It was that day that his son went to one of his first house fires, and Mire said he decided to go see him. Mire arrived at the home on Kim Street as it was engulfed in flames. One of three people was missing and when Mire walked around the back, hopping the fence, he spotted the lone woman who was trapped in the corner of the yard. Mire managed to get her to the arms of her daughter and son-in-law.
