VIDEO: The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a fire at a home on S. Riveroaks Dr. late Thursday night.
BRFD says, “firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the carport.”
Firefighters immediately went to work extinguishing the fire with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
The fire was put out in 20 minutes and “firefighters were able contain the fire to the carport,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
BRFD says the living room was left with smoke and water damage.
All members of the home were able to make it out safely.
That includes two kids, one adult and two dogs.
They were able to call 911 from a neighbor’s house.
This happened after the kids alerted the adult to a fire inside the home.
The adult was cutting the grass when the fire erupted and was subsequently unable to put it out.
