VIDEOS: Clarence Reese Jr. was sworn in Monday, June 27 as Shreveport Fire Department’s newest fire chief.
The ceremony that started at 2 p.m. was held at Morningstar Baptist Church on Jewella Avenue.
Reese touched on how he hopes to be a role model for children in the community.
”I want them to know that I have done the very best in everything that I touched. That’s one of the things my parents taught me at a young age, is that whatever you put your hands to or give you mind to, give it your very best.”
And while he took the oath for fire chief, Reese said his role expands to a larger reach in the Shreveport community.
“If there’s something you don’t feel comfortable talking to your politician about, or your police chief, your sheriff, or any type of leader, anybody in any type of neighborhood, any type of problem, come tell me. Come tell me. I’m willing to die behind every last one of y’all, I am willing to die for any kid right now that’s on the streets.”
