PHOTO: The Baton Rouge Fire Department showed off five new trucks during a ceremony on Thursday, March 16. “I dedicated funding from the American Rescue Plan to address pressing needs in public safety and infrastructure in East Baton Rouge Parish,” said Mayor Sharon Weston Broome. “The purchase of this critical equipment will help our Class 1 Baton Rouge Fire Department serve the citizens of our city at moment’s notice.” Officials said the trucks cost more than $2.9 million. They added 230 new lighter-weight air packs with improved safety measures were also purchased.
