Fire crews rescued a woman from a building fire at 1 Marlboro Drive in Pittsfield Monday evening. According to the Pittsfield Fire Department, at approximately 6:42 p.m., crews received reports of smoke emanating from the residence at 1 Marlboro Drive, with fire alarms sounding. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered challenging hoarding conditions, hindering their access to the inside of the house.
Multiple units, including E6, E3, E1, Tower 1, and Car 2, along with additional off-duty firefighters, were mobilized to put out the fire. Despite the obstacles posed by the hoarding, responders worked tirelessly to locate and suppress the fire, which was concentrated in the kitchen on the first floor. Concerns were raised about a woman possibly trapped inside the residence, prompting firefighters to conduct a thorough search.

A child who was injured in a fire in East Boston earlier this month has died, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday.
The incident occurred on April 2 at a multi-family building on Meridian Street.
The fire also killed another person, the Boston Fire Department said. Their name wasn't immediately released.
Four other people were rescued from the building, and one firefighter suffered minor injuries battling the flames. About 30 people were displaced.
The close proximity of the houses caused the flames to spread to the house next door and the building in the back, officials said.
Boston Fire Commissioner Paul Burke said the damage from the fire is estimated at $5 million for all three buildings.
The fire remains under investigation.

One local initiative continues its efforts to combat the opioid crisis throughout our region. The Hampden District Attorney’s office says since the creation of its Municipal Narcan Initiative in 2018, as of this year, they have surpassed about 2,800 doses supplied to local first responders.
The Center for Human Development partnered with the DA’s office, and issued a statement that reads in part, “This investment is helping many parents, spouses, partners, daughters, and sons gain an opportunity to embark on long-term recovery and keep intact many families who otherwise might have experienced a tragic loss.”
