First Responders were honored on Monday during a ceremony at the West Barnstable Fire Station. The ceremony saw the unveiling of a new flag to honor employees for the Department of Public Works (DPW). DPW employees are officially listed as First Responders for the critical public safety work they do. Brand new First Responders Flags were hung on the Route 6 and Route 149 overpasses. The new flags replace old ones on the bridge with the new DPW Flag, colored in black and safety orange, was added the group. “First Responder refers to individuals who, in the early stages of an incident, are responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and the environment,” said State Rep. Randy Hunt (R-Sandwich).
