A fire that started outside a two-story home spread to the eaves and second floor Thursday night. A woman and child escaped the fire at 38 Ward St. safely. A third resident was not home at the time, said Deputy Fire Chief David Beauregard. Several people reported the fire at about 8:15 p.m. When firefighters arrived they saw flames had extended up the back side of the house, under the eaves and into the second floor of the house, he said.
“They knocked it down quickly,” he said. Firefighters then spent time in the home ensuring the fire was completely extinguished and doing overhaul.
No one was injured in the fire, Beauregard said.
