Six people were displaced by a two-alarm fire that damaged a ranch-style home at 210 Barre Paxton Road (Route 122) early Thursday. There were no injuries. According to Fire Chief Seth Knipe, the fire was reported just after 5 a.m. by an occupant of the property. The inside of the house was badly damaged, with the fire filling a bedroom and extending to the kitchen and attic, Chief Knipe said. The home’s contents were a loss. The building itself sustained about $100,000 in damage, with heavy heat and smoke damage throughout, he said. The American Red Cross assisted four children and two adults. All residents and animals got out without injuries. The fire was outside the water district, and tanker trucks brought in water from other towns, he said. The fire was under control within 20 minutes. The cause is under investigation.
