A home at 279 Morton St. was heavily damaged by fire Friday morning, and two residents were injured, according to the West Springfield Fire Department. Deputy Chief Steven Manchino said two residents were taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered in the 5:30 a.m. fire. He described their injuries as not life-threatening. One of the two occupants of the split-level ranch was already out of the house when firefighters arrived. The other was trapped inside and had to be helped out through a window, Manchino said.
