A firefighter suffered a minor injury after responding to a house fire that destroyed a two-family home on Brown Avenue Wednesday night. An occupant of the two-family home dialed 911 to report the blaze at about 9:20 p.m., according to Western Mass News. The fire at 45-47 Brown Avenue started on the second floor and burned into the attic and out through sections of the roof. Much of the roof is collapsed and fallen into the upper floors. The house has been declared condemned by the city. By Thursday morning, the fire was out and firefighters have cleared the scene. Capt. Kevin Cavagnac said a firefighter fell and suffered an ankle injury while fighting the blaze. She was treated at the scene. The cause remains under investigation.
