Selectmen and local legislators hailed the heroic and selfless actions of first responders who rescued 10 people from a burning apartment building last week on North Bow Street. Dispatcher Jason Covino, police officers Elias Giokas and Jonathan Branch, fire Lt. William Collins and firefighters David Covino, Daniel Martino, Jacob Gronemeyer and Douglas Lima were awarded citations from the Board of Selectmen, state Rep. Brian Murray, D-Milford, and state Sen. Ryan Fattman, R-Sutton, during Monday night’s selectmen’s meeting. “I could not be more proud of all of you for what you do for this community on a daily basis,” said selectmen Chairman Michael Walsh. Covino completed his dispatching shift shortly before 11 p.m. last Wednesday and was driving on North Bow Street when he saw heavy smoke and flames billowing from the multifamily home at 16 North Bow St.
