Two people and a dog were displaced after a massive fire ripped through a single-family home Tuesday night. The Hanson Fire Department responded to 45 Milford St. about 7:32 p.m. for a report of a house fire. When firefighters arrived, there was heavy fire shooting from the second floor of the home, but it quickly spread. “Upon arrival, all occupants had exited the house and crews encountered heavy fire throughout the structure,” said Fire Chief Jerome Thompson. It took firefighters more than two hours to extinguish the bulk of the stubborn fire. “Excessive clutter in the house made it difficult for firefighters to continue an aggressive interior attack and contributed to a lengthy overhaul process,” Thompson said. The house is uninhabitable due to the fire damage, as well as extensive smoke and water damage, Thompson said.
