A shed was destroyed by a fire that spread to a nearby garage, a wooden fence and neighboring shed on Wednesday. The fire at 1011 Liberty St. was reported just before 3 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the shed was engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to the garage and a neighbor’s property on 52 Roy St., said Fire Capt. Brian Tetreault, Arson and Bomb Squad commander. Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly before it caused much damage to the other structures, he said. No one was injured in the fire, Tetreault said. Damage to the garage is estimated at about $5,000 and the shed and all its contents were destroyed. The neighbor’s shed and fence sustained less than $1,000 in damage, he said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad, Tetreault said.
