VIDEO: While a Boston firefighter recovers from major surgery, his one request was that his fellow firefighters attend his son's first Little League playoff game. Lt. Glenn Preston, 42, a Danvers resident, has been battling lymphoma for three years. His family said it is an occupational cancer. More than anything, Preston wanted to see his son, Jake, play in Friday's game. Unfortunately, he's stuck in a hospital hundreds of miles away. "It's his first game and I'm missing it," Preston told WCVB by phone. Preston is recovering in New Jersey after his sixth surgery, and has not yet been cleared to return home. In his absence, Preston asked for "as many members as possible" to don their department T-shirts and attend the baseball game Friday night. Dozens of his brothers and sisters from the department heeded that call. "As an 11-year-old, he's going through stuff now that no 11-year-old should go through. I just wanted his son to understand how much people truly care for his dad," said Lt. Roger Kendrick, who joined the crowd of firefighters at the game.
