An early morning fire at Flat Point Farm destroyed a barn and killed dozens of farm animals, the Cape Cod Times reported. The fire was reported just after 5 a.m. and the barn was “totally engulfed” when firefighters arrived, West Tisbury police Detective Nikolaj Wojtkielo told the paper. The blaze killed 22 lambs, 12 sheep, two beef cattle and 50 chickens, Wojtkielo told the paper. The fire may have been started by a heat lamp, Wojtkielo said.
Flat Point Farm has been run by the Fischer family since 1939, according to a farm website.
