One man was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 495 northbound – south of the ramp to Route 28 – Monday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police. At about 2 p.m., police said a man in his late 20s driving a small SUV went off the road, rolled onto its side and struck a tree, wrapping the vehicle partially around the tree. The driver was trapped in his car, police said. Massachusetts State Police, Andover Fire Rescue and an ambulance responded to the scene, police said. The heavy damage required 55 minutes of extensive work by firefighters and a crew from Coady's Towing Services to get the man out of the car using specialized tools. Police said he was conscious the entire time. The driver was the only occupant of the car.
