The New Bedford Fire Department and the New Bedford Firefighters Local 841 are mourning the death of Cory Combs, a firefighter assigned to Engine Company 8 in the city’s North End.
Local 841, in a Facebook post Wednesday night, “announced the passing of active duty member Firefighter Cory Combs on October 8, 2019.” He had been a member of the department since 2012, the post noted.
“An Army Veteran, Cory proudly served our country as a Paratrooper assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division and was dedicated to the New Bedford Fire Department and the citizens of this City,” Local 841 said in the post.
“We continue to keep his family in our thoughts and prayers during this time and in the coming months,” Local 841's post said.
According to an obituary from the Shepherd Funeral Home in Carver, which is handling the arrangements, Combs, 33, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his Carver home.
