Firefighters called to man stuck in tree in Barnstable

Firefighters were called to a technical rescue situation in the Cummaquid village of Barnstable around 12:30 PM Thursday. A man was reportedly working to cut down a tree when he became stuck between two branches. The incident happened on Main Street (Route 6A) near Keaveny Lane. Traffic was tied up in the area until the rescue was complete. About 1:30 PM, it was reported the victim had been brought safely to the ground and was being transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. Barnstable Fire reports that at 12:41 PM, they were dispatched for a technical rescue incident involving a person pinned 15' up in a tree. The duty crew responded in Ambulance 203 and Ladder 206 along with the Chief and Deputy Chief. Upon our arrival they found a 65-year-old male with his right lower leg pinned in a tree by another tree that he had just cut down. The patient was stabilized and after carefully cutting and lifting the fallen tree off him he was able to pull the entrapped leg from the pinch point.
