A two-alarm house fire that began in a chimney and spread to the second floor displaced a person from a Ridge Road home Saturday night.
Fire Capt. Anthony Arventos said the blaze at 855 Ridge Road was reported about 6 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from the chimney and extending into the roof and attic areas.
Firefighters from a number of communities provided mutual aid, including Ludlow, East Longmeadow, Monson, Hampden and Palmer. It took approximately 30 minutes to get the fire under control. Nobody was home at the time of the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
