A multifamily home in Blackstone caught fire before dawn Thursday. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was assisting seven adults and two children who were displaced from the Main Street home. Firefighters said it a stubborn fire. Blackstone Fire Chief Michael Sweeney said the fire might have started in the kitchen. Flames traveled through the walls to the attic. It took firefighters about an hour to get it under control. "We made initial entry to a first-floor kitchen, which was engulfed in flames, and they knocked that down. We thought it was just a room and content, but it already spread to the attic area and got a pretty good head start on us. Shortly thereafter, I sounded a second alarm for additional manpower," Sweeney said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
