Woburn unveiled 3D renderings of the planned new fire headquarters Friday, six months after construction began on the $23 million facility.
The city expects the Forest Park project to be completed in Nov. 2022, it said.
In Feb. 2020, City Council authorized a $30 million plan including the new headquarters plus $7 million in renovations to upgrade existing stations. In June 2020, the city won approval from the state legislature for a land swap, allowing it to build the fire headquarters on formerly-protected conservation land.
Ground was broken at Forest Park in Aug. 2020, with site clearing, and construction began in May, 2021.
"To fund the project the city issued a twenty-year bond in June of 2021, taking advantage of its AAA bond rating to receive an interest rate of 1.67 percent," the city said. "The annual debt service will be approximately $1,390,000."
