VIDEO: Fire crews battled a massive blaze that tore through a home in Lancaster Thursday night. The Runaway Brook Road home is located in a remote area near an apple orchard which made getting water on the fire difficult. Firefighters from several towns ran hoses about a half-mile away but, in that time, the flames chewed through everything but the garage. The newly constructed home belongs to an Acton firefighter, his wife and two children. The family moved in just a few weeks ago. Everyone in the family was able to make it out of the fire unharmed. “Talking with the homeowner, it’s a new home. They actually just moved in, the second time using the wood stove, he did hear some crackling in the pipes in the chimney, and when he went up to investigate he already had smoke pushing down into the house,” Lancaster Fire Chief Michael Hanson said.
