Three residents of a single-family house in Avon were temporarily displaced by a fire that caused significant damage Tuesday morning.
The Avon Fire Department responded to 29 Feeley St. about 11 a.m. after receiving a call from someone who reported hearing an explosion at the house.
"Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke showing from the home with heavy fire conditions coming from the back side of the home," Fire Chief Robert Spurr wrote in a statement.
Firefighters attacked the flames from the outside of the house to extinguish the heavy fire, then went inside to finish extinguishing it.
The fire was under control by about noon, but crews remained on scene overhauling until about 1:30 p.m., Spurr said.
No one was injured during the incident. The homeowner and their dog were able to evacuate the house before firefighters arrived.
