“Troopers assigned to the State Police Marine Unit and STOP Team participated in a joint agency exercise with the U.S. Coast Guard, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Boston Police, Scituate Police, Hingham Police, Weymouth Police, Boston EMS, and Massport Fire. The event consisted of an active shooter-type scenario onboard a passenger ferry in Boston Harbor. The scenario focused on providing a realistic scenario with numerous plain-clothes role players onboard the ferry. To make things even more realistic, numerous “man-overboard” incidents took place, requiring boat crews to retrieve rescue dummies, during the event. This was made possible by the participation of Boston Harbor Cruises, who provided a ferry for a realistic training platform and staff to join the event,” according to Massachusetts State Police.
