PHOTOS: Middleboro firefighters and other local fire crews spent long hours Friday and into Saturday battling an intense blaze at a landscaping yard, calling it a “long, challenging and labor intensive operation.”
According to Facebook posts from the Middleboro Firefighters Local 3653, firefighters were called to Ryco at 481 Wareham Street at about 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1 for a reported fire in the material yard for Agresource, a tenant on the property.
Firefighters arrived to find three large compost piles burning. Multiple tankers were requested to the scene, as both tanker shuttles and relay pumping was required, the union said, all while battling the heat and humidity of the weather in addition to the fire itself.
“Thousands of feet of supply line was laid with hundreds of thousands of gallons of water applied by the operation’s end,” the union said, noting a total of 24 pieces of apparatus and three lighting towers were utilized.
