An 86-year-old woman is in critical condition after being rescued from an early morning house fire in Crownsville. Around 1:30 a.m., Anne Arundel County Fire officials responded to the 1-alarm blaze on Waterbury Heights Road. A female resident was alerted by smoke alarms inside the home and was able to escape to a neighbor's house to call for help. When firefighters arrived, they were made aware of another resident, an 86-year-old woman who was upstairs in the back bedroom. Crews were able to quickly use a neighbor's ladder that was already in place to make entry and rescue the victim.
