State fire investigators are continuing efforts to determine the cause of a fire Sunday morning that destroyed a residence at 47 Broadwater Cemetery Road. No injuries were reported in the 5:16 a.m. blaze that was brought under control by volunteer firefighters about 30 minutes after their arrival at the scene. More than four dozen firefighters from Barton and allied volunteer fire departments responded to the incident. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire originated in the interior of the single-story dwelling and was discovered by a neighbor. The property loss was estimated at $43,900 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents. Anyone with information about the fire may contact the fire marshal's office at 301-766-3888.
