A fire ripped through a mobile home near North East on Thursday, gutting the structure and displacing an adult and two children, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Neighbors called 911 at about 3 p.m., after discovering the burning house in the 400 block of Lakeside Drive in the Lakeside Mobile Home Park, fire officials said. The occupants were not at home when the fire started, fire officials added.
The Delmarva Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants, according to fire officials, who, as of Thursday night, had not released the names of the property owner and the occupants.
Numerous firefighters with several volunteer fire companies in Cecil County battled the blaze for about 35 minutes, before bringing it under control, reported Deputy State Fire Marshal Howard F. Ewing.
