At least 19 people, including two children, were injured on Sunday after heavy thunderstorms reportedly caused multiple trees to fall onto a home in Anne Arundel County, trapping six. The incident occurred on the 8300 block of Dunn Road in Pasadena where at least 20 people were inside. Authorities say 17 adults and two children were transported to five area hospitals; one patient with critical injuries, five with serious injuries, and 13 with minor injures. Firefighters believe the group was celebrating a child's birthday and sought shelter inside of the garage when a short, but powerful thunderstorm rolled through the area, according to the Anne Arundel County Public Information Officer. County officials say everyone who could self-evacuate did so before firefighters arrived, but six people that were trapped had to be extricated. All occupants were safely extricated within 45 minutes after first responders arrived.
