A family in Somerset County gets creative to reconnect with their grandmother, who is living in a nursing home. "It's indescribable. It was just amazing that I could just look in her face and see her," Shirl Carmine of Crisfield says. Carmine visits her mother at the Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield often. That's all changed with the pandemic. "This four months, almost five months, has been very frustrating," Carmine says. "I miss my mom. I miss having coffee with her. I miss seeing her. I miss touching her face. I was trying to figure out ways to keep in contact." On Sunday, Carmine and her daughter, Jess, recruited the Crisfield Fire Department after seeing their truck at a gas station in town. Carmine says she asked the crew to use their bucket and bring her to her mother's second story window.
