Authorities are investigating a Monday night fire that caused an estimated $500,000 in damage to a Talbot County home and its contents.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out shortly after 8 p.m. at the 3,200-square-foot, two-story home located at 9973 Wades Point Road in McDaniel.
It took 60 firefighters from the St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department and assisting departments approximately three hours to get the blaze under control.
The fire caused an estimated $450,000 in damage to the structure and another $50,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.
Deputy state fire marshals determined the fire started in the roof of the home but what caused the fire remains under investigation. However, investigators did note storms passed through the area during the night.
