Two firefighters had to be sent to the hospital after battling a two-alarm fire that caused more than $1 million in damage to a home in St. Michaels. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said it happened shortly after 11 p.m. Monday at a 5,400-square-foot, three-story home located at 8831 Dawson Road. It took 90 firefighters from the St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department and assisting fire departments approximately three hours to get the blaze under control. The fire caused an estimated $1 million in damage to the structure and another $500,000 in damage to its content. Two Firefighters were transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health at Easton for evaluation. No other injuries were reported.
