The Hagerstown Fire Department and Hagerstown Police responded to the area of 1760 Dual Way near a BP gas station on Thursday around noon. Police say that the at-fault driver was trying to avoid another vehicle when he over-compensated, hitting the second vehicle, and then rolled his car. The driver was then trapped in his vehicle but was rescued by emergency services. Sgt. Scott Leeney explained that the driver at fault was traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred. “From what witnesses said, a truck was making a u-turn, another vehicle was coming up westbound on Dual Highway, evaded the pickup truck,” Sgt. Leeny said. “Now the vehicle was doing a high rate of speed, lost control because he overcompensated, struck a car, and then rolled his car and hit a parked car.”
