Fire at Kellogg cereal plant in Battle Creek caused by rice oil buildup

Firefighters believe a Tuesday morning blaze at a Kellogg Co. plant in Battle Creek started due to rice oil buildup in a cereal bin. The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to the fire around 9:28 a.m. Tuesday, April 16. The fire was isolated to the cereal hopper and one transfer pipe at a Kellogg plant at 425 Porter St. in Battle Creek. Fire crews quickly contained the fire to the bin, according to officials. No one was injured.
