Ironwood woman charged in Pines Cafe fire

An Ironwood woman was arrested Wednesday on charges related to the Sunday afternoon fire at Pine’s Cafe, according to the Ironwood Public Safety Department. The 24-year-old woman has been charged with first-degree arson, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, a $20,000 fine or three times the value of the property damaged or destroyed; arson — preparation to burn a dwelling, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a $15,000 fine, or three times the value of the property damaged or destroyed, whichever is greater; and third-degree killing/torturing an animal, which carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison and a $5,000 fine, police said. The Ironwood woman, whose name is being withheld pending arraignment, is currently lodged at the Gogebic County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to police.
