A fire claimed a Handy Township home on the 500 block of Fowlerville Road Tuesday morning.
The house is "probably a total loss," Fowlerville Area Fire Department Deputy Chief Robert Feig said.
When firefighters arrived around 5:10 a.m., the garage was on fire and flames were spreading into the house, he said.
Feig said the six people who live there and their pets were not injured.
The six residents included three teenage boys and one teenage girl, according to organizers of a crowdfunding drive aimed at helping the family cover expenses and groceries in the wake of the blaze.
Community members also are organizing a clothing drive, they said. The GoFundMe campaign has a goal of $10,000 and had raised about $1,990 as of early Tuesday afternoon.
