A Tecumseh family was left without a home Thursday after a fire resulted in the total loss of their longtime residence, but at least one of their dogs survived.
Emergency personnel were dispatched at 6:46 p.m. to a house fire at 408 S. Ottawa St. Police who first arrived on the scene reported that the bungalow-style house built in 1946 was fully involved.
Police at first believed the house may have been occupied but saw that the owner’s car was gone.
According to Tecumseh Assistant Fire Chief Scot Long, the fire took about 15 minutes from arrival to put under control.
“We were over with four people, immediately pulled two (hose) lines,” he said. “We knew we had Clinton Fire coming with an engine and Raisin Township coming with an engine.
